IF Oxford presents: Ghost In the Machine + Director Q&A12A
Ghost in the Machine traces the origins of artificial intelligence back to power, not technology. This investigative documentary digs into the uncomfortable history behind AI’s development, and looks at how these new technologies are reshaping identity, culture and power on a global scale. The film examines Silicon Valley’s key figures and the systems that let AI grow largely unchecked. It looks past the hype to the fantasies driving it, and unpacks the philosophical, cultural and political forces behind the AI boom.
IF Oxford presents a one-off screening of this film, followed by a Q&A with the director, Valerie Veatch.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
