Hot Milk15

Directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz | Greece/UK | 2025 | 1h 33m | Starring Vicky Krieps, Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw, Patsy Ferran, Yann Gael

In the sweltering heat of a Spanish seaside town, Rose and her daughter Sofia arrive to seek help from a mysterious healer for Rose’s unexplained illness. But as Rose turns inward, Sofia is drawn to the magnetic and free-spirited Ingrid, sparking a new sense of independence that begins to strain their fragile relationship. Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s directorial debut is a richly atmospheric adaptation of Deborah Levy’s Booker Prize-nominated novel, starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw, and Vicky Krieps.

‘Built around two daredevil performances from Fiona Shaw and Emma Mackey, it is jagged and dreamlike at once, the story of a mother and daughter locked in codependence.’
★★★★
Danny Leigh, The FT

‘This is slippery, subversive storytelling that’s very hard to get any firm grasp on – but that is one of its main pleasures.’
★★★★
Geoffrey Macnab, The Independent
