Girl + Director Q&A12A
Raised in a Glasgow estate, young Ama and her mother, Grace, find comfort in the serene yet solitary universe they meticulously construct. However, Ama’s yearning for life clashes with the confines of their enclosed world, compelling Grace to confront a haunting past she battles to erase. Adura Onashile’s remarkable feature debut is a delicate dual coming-of-age story and a tender exploration of trauma.
One-off screening followed by a Q&A with the director, Adura Onashile.
Reviews
‘The beauty in Girl comes through how understated it is. Onashile allows the performances from her leads to do much of the heavy-lifting when it comes to conveying complex and nuanced emotions in a way that words alone cannot achieve.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
