Anti-Valentine’s Day Classic: Misery15

Directed by Rob Reiner | USA | 1990 | 1h 47m | Starring Kathy Bates, James Caan, Richard Farnsworth, Frances Sternhagen, Lauren Bacall

After a devastating car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued by Annie Wilkes, a former nurse who claims to be his biggest fan. She takes him to her isolated cabin to recover, but her admiration soon turns into a dangerous obsession. As Sheldon secretly plans his escape, Annie becomes increasingly controlling, forcing him to rewrite his work to satisfy her disturbing fantasies. Featuring powerful performances by James Caan and Kathy Bates, and widely regarded as one of the strongest Stephen King film adaptations, Rob Reiner’s tense, claustrophobic thriller offers a chilling examination of toxic parasocial fandom.
