Time And WaterPG

Directed by Sara Dosa | Iceland/USA | 2026 | 1h33m

Iceland’s glaciers are melting and celebrated poet and author Andri Snær Magnason is determined to capture what’s being lost before it’s gone. Drawing on personal archives, his grandparents’ photographs and home films, and the traditional songs and folktales of his homeland, he weaves together his family’s history and the story of the land itself. From Sara Dosa, the Academy Award-nominated director of Fire of Love, this urgent documentary is both a love letter to a place and a profound meditation on what it means to be alive in an age of irreversible change.

Reviews

‘A poetic musing on intergenerational memory, a whimsical, yet staunchly political elegy for the glaciers, and a mournful look at the Earth in all her majesty and mystery…and how craven capitalism over the last several hundred years has destroyed her.’
★★★★★
Marya E. Gates, IndieWire

‘It’s a pensive, reflective film which combines striking Super 16 archive material with a deft exploration of the way the narratives of our lives are intertwined with the lands we inhabit.’ Wendy Ide, Screen International
