September Says + Q&A18
Sisters July and September share a deep bond despite their differences. September is fiercely protective and wary, while July is open and inquisitive. When a troubling incident at school forces them to escape with their mother to an old holiday home, a series of eerie and surreal events begin to unravel their relationship in ways July struggles to understand. In this unsettling exploration of family ties, actor-turned-director Ariane Labed casts a haunting spell for this mesmerising adaptation of Daisy Johnson’s novel ‘Sisters’.
Screening plus an in-person Q&A with Booker Prize nominated novelist Daisy Johnson, chaired by visual artist Tom de Freston.
Reviews
‘An unsettling modern fable that’s fired by the tension between the siblings’ claustrophobic bond and their surreal interactions with the world at large.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
