In a rundown industrial American town, a restless teenager grapples with rival gangs and his estranged father, all while desperately attempting to live up to the reputation of his legendary older brother. Featuring magnetic lead performances by Matt Dillon and Mickey Rourke, Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s 1975 novel is a stunning black-and-white exploration of existential teenage angst.
