Serpico15

Directed by Sidney Lumet | USA | 1973 | 2h 10m | Starring Al Pacino, John Randolph, John Randolph, Biff McGuire, Cornelia Sharpe

A plainclothes street patrolman, Frank Serpico stands apart from his colleagues. Unwilling to play dirty or give into the police corruption surrounding drugs, violence, and kickbacks, he finds himself shunned by his fellow officers. When he decides to expose those around him, Frank becomes a marked man. Al Pacino is at his charismatic best in Sidney Lumet’s disturbing portrait of moral decay in New York, a film based on true events that remains one of the most influential cop movies in American cinema history.

Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

‘In 1973,after the disenchanted, psychotic cops of The French Connection and Dirty Harry, Al Pacino’s Frank Serpico came as a paradoxical change of pace.’
