A Man Called Otto15

Directed by Marc Forster | USA | 2022 | 2h 6m | Starring Tom Hanks, Rachel Keller, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Kailey Hyman, Elle Chapman

A grumpy widower with strict routines and a short fuse gives everyone in his neighbourhood a hard time as he watches over the like a hawk. Just as it seems like he’s finally given up on life, an unlikely and reluctant friendship develops with his new, slightly overfamiliar neighbours. Tom Hanks gives a brilliantly curmudgeonly turn in this heartwarming comedy drama based on Fredrik Backman’s best-selling novel.

Reviews

‘All but the most dogged of sceptics will be charmed by the message of the redemptive power of small acts of kindness and plastic containers full of tamales.’
Wendy Ide, The Observer
