A young Finnish woman living in Moscow decides to visit the distant arctic port of Murmansk for her studies. Aboard the train, she is forced to share a cabin with a loutish Russian miner. Winner of the Grand Prix at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen’s romantic drama is a bittersweet tale of adventure, self-discovery, and human connection.

Reviews

‘Beautifully believable performances from Haarla and Borisov add emotional weight, rivalling the nuanced naturalistic charm of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy.’
★★★★
Mark Kermode, The Observer

‘It’s the rapport between the actors – or the anti-rapport, to start with – that makes this such a winning diversion.’
★★★★
Tim Robey, The Telegraph
