Be Natural: the Untold Story of Alice Guy BlachePG
A fascinating look at the life of French director and pioneer of cinema Alice Guy-Blaché (1873–1968), credited with being the first woman filmmaker. Largely ignored or forgotten by history until now, this documentary shines a spotlight on her story as a visionary artist and entrepreneur, and how she has unfairly faded from memory.
One-off screening followed by a panel discussion with the organisers of The Oxford International Women’s Festival.
‘Cineastes, film nerds and feminists alike will be gripped by this documentary portrait of Alice Guy-Blaché. Who? That’s the point.’
★★★★
Kevin Maher, The Times
‘The ingrained sexism it highlights could form the basis of several sequels.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
