“Wuthering Heights”15

Directed by Emerald Fennell | UK | 2025 | 2h 16m | Starring Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Shazad Latif

In 18th-century Yorkshire, young Heathcliff is rescued from the streets by the wealthy Mr. Earnshaw and brought into his family home. As he grows up alongside Earnshaw’s daughter, Catherine, he transforms into a brooding outsider, and the two share a passionate, often destructive, love. Starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, Emerald Fennell’s (Saltburn) visually stunning adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel reimagines the story with intense emotion and sensuality.

Reviews

‘Style over substance? Not at all – it’s more that Fennell understands that style can be substance when you do it right. Cathy and Heathcliff’s passions vibrate through their dress, their surroundings, and everything else within reach, and you leave the cinema quivering on their own private frequency.’
★★★★★
Robbie Collins, The Telegraph

‘Sexy, dramatic and swoonily romantic…Emerald Fennell’s new take on the classic romance is far from faithful to the original book – but it is utterly absorbing in its own right.’
★★★★
Caryn James, BBC
