In the Argentine city of Trenque Lauquen, the disappearance of local academic Laura is shrouded in mystery. Two former colleagues embark on a quest to find her and unwittingly become ensnared in a complex web that intertwines elements of the scientific and the supernatural. Argentine filmmaker Laura Citarella’s puzzle box drama unfolds with elegant precision over its expansive runtime, revealing a radical portrayal of empowerment and obsession.
Screening includes a 20min intermission.
‘One of 2023’s most astonishing films comes in the form of a two-part opus about a woman drawn to mystery that takes a few cues from Twin Peaks…An extraordinary achievement in both narrative storytelling and thematic originality.’
David Jenkins, Little White Lies
‘Paredes gives the film a magnetic, if elusive, centre as a seemingly fragile but unshakeably intrepid heroine — at once Alice in Wonderland, Holmesian sleuth and feminist Tintin.’
Jonathan Romney, The FT

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
