The Marching Band15

Directed by Emmanuel Courcol | France | 2024 | 1h 43m | French w/ English subtitles | Starring Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Lottin, Sarah Suco, Jacques Bonnaffé, Anne Loiret

When renowned orchestra conductor Thibaut is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, a DNA test reveals a shocking truth: he was adopted and has a biological brother – a factory worker who plays trombone in a small-town marching band. Their unexpected reunion sets off a heartfelt journey, as Thibaut searches for a bone marrow donor and a deeper sense of belonging. Authentic, humorous, and deeply moving, Emmanuel Courcol’s drama explores the healing power of music and the unlikely bond between two brothers brought together by fate.

Reviews

‘Warm and sure-footed, the film has the feel of a richly satisfying meal in an excellent neighbourhood bistro. Old world pleasures of character and story are generously apportioned.’
