Orphan15
In Budapest, 1957, a year after the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1956, a 12-year-old Jewish boy lives with the belief that his father will one day return from the concentration camps. But his fragile hopes are shattered when a rough, mysterious stranger arrives at the family home claiming to be his real father. As the boy struggles to understand the truth about his family and identity, he is forced to confront the lingering trauma of war, loss and survival in postwar Europe. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker László Nemes (Son of Saul), this powerful and deeply personal drama explores memory, belonging, and the emotional aftershocks of the 20th century through the eyes of a child coming of age amid political and historical upheaval.
Reviews
‘As with “Son of Saul” and “Sunset,” this is a sophisticated endeavor and, in craft terms, a level above the norm.’

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
