Oxford University Filmmaking Foundation presents: Miracle On 34th StreetU

Directed by George Seaton | USA | 1947 | 1h 36m | Starring Maureen O’Hara, John Payne, Edmund Gwenn, Gene Lockhart, Natalie Wood

When the Santa lined up for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade turns up drunk, an old man called Kris Kringle steps in. He’s such a hit that he’s soon holding court at the store’s flagship Manhattan branch. Then he tells everyone he’s the real Santa Claus, and a court case is called to decide whether he’s delusional or genuine. Edmund Gwenn won an Oscar for playing Kringle, one of three Academy Awards for this 1947 comedy-fantasy, which has been a Christmas favourite ever since.

Screening presented in partnership with the Oxford University Filmmaking Foundation.
