Kings of the Road18

Directed by Wim Wenders | Germany | 1976 | 2h 56m | German w/ English subtitles | Starring Rüdiger Vogler, Hanns Zischler, Lisa Kreuzer, Rudolf Schündler

While traveling along the border between East and West Germany, a roving film projector repairman saves the life of a psychologist who has driven his car into a river. The two end up on the road together, traveling from one rural movie theater to another, bonded by their shared loneliness. Winner of the Critics Prize at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival, Wim Wenders’ hypnotic road movie is a moving tale of male friendship and a portrait of a country still haunted by war.

Plan your visit

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
