Jane Austen Wrecked My Life15

Directed by Laura Piani | France | 2025 | 1h 38m | French w/ English subtitles | Starring Camille Rutherford, Pablo Pauly, Charlie Anson, Annabelle Lengronne, Alan Fairbairn

Agathe, a charming but floundering young woman, works in Paris’s iconic Shakespeare & Co. bookshop. Dreaming of love and literary success, she gets a second chance when her best friend lands her a spot at a Jane Austen Writers’ Residency in England. There, she’s swept into an unexpected love triangle straight out of an Austen novel. Writer-director Laura Piani’s delightful debut is a witty, modern romantic comedy that wears its literary heart on its sleeve.

Reviews

Bilge Ebiri, Vulture Magazine

At a time when practically the entire rom-com genre has gravitated to streaming, this bilingual theatrical offering from Sony Pictures Classics feels like the best kind of throwback.’
Peter Debruge, Variety
