In Sendai, nine years after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, two social workers are found starved to death after being tied up and abandoned. Both had been involved in processing welfare claims after the disaster. Investigator Tomashino suspects Tone, an ex-convict trying to rebuild his life, but the evidence is not conclusive. To solve the case, Tomashino must dig deeper into the complex social issues stemming from the disaster. Directed by Zeze Takahisa (Tomorrow’s Dinner Table), In the Wake is a gripping social thriller that delves into responsibility, social injustice, and the lasting effects of the 2011 disaster.

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
