In A Violent Nature18

Directed by Chris Nash | Canada | 2024 | 1h 34m | Starring Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Charlotte Creaghan

When a group of teenagers takes a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods, they unwittingly resurrect a vengeful spirit. Determined to reclaim the stolen locket, the undead killer embarks on a murderous rampage, slaughtering anyone in his path. Told from the terrifying perspective of the killer, this immersive subversion of the slasher horror genre contrasts the gruesome violence with the serene beauty of the Ontario wilderness.

Reviews

‘If you’re looking to get your nerves actively shredded, you might have to seek out other men in masks to accept that particular mission. But from a horror fan’s point of view, this is an absolutely fascinating experiment with form.’
★★★★
Catherine Bray, The Guardian

‘Think Béla Tarr doing an unholy doc-fiction hybrid about Camp Crystal Lake.’
★★★★
Keith Ulrich, Slant Magazine
