Hamlet15
After a long time away, Hamlet returns home to London following the sudden death of his father, a wealthy Indian businessman at the centre of the city’s nouveau riche elite. Soon, Hamlet begins seeing visions of his father’s ghost. The ghost claims he was murdered by his own brother, Claudius, and demands revenge. Set in a modern London shaped by economic and political uncertainty, Aneil Karia’s adaptation of Shakespeare, starring Riz Ahmed, explores family loyalty, moral responsibility and the corrupting influence of power.
Reviews
‘There’s a rigorous chill to this Hamlet.’
★★★★
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
‘Malik and Chaddha are very good; likewise Morfydd Clark as Ophelia and Timothy Spall as Polonius. But this is Ahmed’s film, his Hamlet a dervish of fury and sorrow, whirring on the brink.’
★★★★
Danny Leigh, The FT

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road.We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We only show a few adverts – less than most cinemas – and we only play a couple of trailers, so please don’t be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
