Friends of the Fields Iffley presents: The Mother + Q&AU

Directed by Nicolas Brown & Rebecca Ward | UK | 2025 | 1hr (inc. Q&A)

This short film weaves together an intimate interview with singer, songmaker, and activist Peggy Seeger with her ecological song, ‘The Mother’.  At the heart of the film is the local campaign to safeguard the last 2.5 acres of ancient meadow in Iffley as an oasis for biodiversity, outdoor education and well-being. Blending personal testimony, compelling music and lyrics, and cosmic imagery, the film highlights how community-driven advocacy can spark hope and mobilise meaningful change on a global scale.

Tickets cost £5. Screening followed by Q&A with Peggy Seeger and filmmakers Rebecca Ward and Nicolas Brown. This event also features an earlier short film from Peggy Seeger and Nicolas Brown, Luna’s Story, about the white Badgers in Iffley.

Horse Fields Campaign
Friends of the Fields Iffley are campaigning for the last 2.5 acres of heritage wildlife meadow in Iffley Village to be protected as a biodiverse site for local outdoor education and nature conservation.  This proposal for ‘Meadow School Iffley’ has widespread support – from local schools, Oxford City Farm and now from Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust as part of a Heritage Lottery funded project.  With the release of The Mother film, we hope that residents and local groups will ask Oxford City Councillors to back this exciting opportunity for local children and nature to flourish, and remove the Horse Fields from Oxford’s new Local Plan.
