Byrne’s Night! True Stories & Stop Making SensePG

USA | 1h 29m + 1h 28m

Saturday 25th January is Byrne’s Night! Join us for a celebration of Talking Heads frontman, artist, and all-round good egg David Byrne with back-to-back screenings of his directorial debut True Stories followed by Jonathan Demme’s iconic Talking Heads concert-doc Stop Making Sense.

Tickets to individual screenings are also available, but why wouldn’t you want to double-up on David this Byrne’s Night?!

7.30pm – True Stories
A group of quirky locals in a Reagan-era Texan town unite to organise a talent show to celebrate their state’s 150th anniversary. Directed and hosted by a cowboy-hatted David Byrne, the frontman of American post-punk band Talking Heads, True Stories draws inspiration from tabloid headlines to create a postmodern tribute to the extraordinary nature of everyday American life.

9.15pm – Stop Making Sense
Big songs. Even bigger suit! Director Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) captures the intoxicating experience of New York art-rockers Talking Heads performing live at the peak of their powers in 1983. Newly restored in 4K to coincide with the film’s 40th anniversary, it is now considered by critics and fans to be the greatest concert documentary of all time.

There will be a short intermission between the two screenings.

Sorry - you missed it!

We showed Byrne’s Night! True Stories & Stop Making Sense between January 25, 2025 and January 25, 2025.
