Battleship Potemkin12A

Directed by Sergei Eisenstein | Soviet Union | 1925 | 1h 12m | Starring Aleksandr Antonov, Vladimir Barskiy, Grigoriy Aleksandrov, Ivan Bobrov, Nina Poltavtseva

In 1905, during the Russian Revolution, the crew of the battleship Potemkin rose up against their brutal officers. Taking control of the ship, their rebellion inspired a wave of resistance among people suffering under the Czar’s Cossacks. Sergei Eisenstein’s groundbreaking masterpiece blends art and politics with stunning technical innovation. Now, to mark the film’s 100th anniversary, this all-time classic returns to the big screen, accompanied by a score from the Pet Shop Boys, performed with the Dresdner Sinfoniker.
