In August and September, we’re opening the doors of the UPP to be used for any purpose… except watching films. We’re looking for proposals from anyone with a great idea to use our space. The winners will get free use of the building to run their session. We’ll even chuck in free popcorn.
As we work with our landlord, Oriel College, to figure out the future for the cinema, we want to demonstrate the versatility of our space, and how much more we could do if we were able to get funding to update it. Funding is dependent on a long term commitment to our tenancy – and that’s what we’re working towards.
It’s a chance to showcase your talent, share something you love, and celebrate the versatility of the wonderful UPP. We’re looking for ideas which expand what the idea of a cinema is – particularly those which will attract diverse or unique audiences. Culture, learning, inspiration, craziness – we want to hear all your ideas.

Here’s what you need to know:
- The offer is for individuals, community groups and businesses based in Oxfordshire;
- Priority will be given to free or low cost activities;
- 2 hour time slots available;
- We can give you some free support to put on your event. Depending on the complexity of your idea, we might ask for a split of the income to cover the costs of our staff and tech support.
