In the summer of 2014, British WWII veteran Bernie Jordan is determined to attend the commemorations for the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy. Defying the advice of his caregivers, he stages a daring “great escape” from his care home and embarks on a journey to northern France. Along the way, Bernie meets other veterans, and they reminisce about their experiences during the Second World War. With a bittersweet script and heartfelt performances, this heartwarming drama stars acting royalty Sir Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson, in her final ever role.
