The Feast18

Directed by Lee Haven Jones | UK | 2021 | 1h 33m | Welsh w/ English subtitles | Starring Annes Elwy, Nia Roberts, Julian Lewis Jones, Steffan Cennydd, Sion Alun Davies

In the Welsh mountains, a wealthy family invite a local businessman and a neighbouring farmer to dinner hoping to broker a deal to purchase the surrounding land. A quiet young girl with an unsettling aura is hired to be waitress and serves up an evening they will never forget. Lee Haven Jones’s disquieting Welsh-language horror suffuses slow-burn tension and disturbing visuals to explore themes of capitalism and environmentalism.

Reviews

‘Jones marries eco-horror with folk horror…There’s much to like about his work here. Just skip the canapes.’
★★★★
Andrew Crump, The Playlist

‘The chilly control of Jones’ filmmaking, enhanced by the pristine, deadened soundscape and Samuel Sim’s intriguing, atmospheric score, keeps our attention squirming on the hook.’
Jessica Kiang, Variety
