Young Frankenstein12A

Directed by Mel Brooks | USA | 1974 | 1h 46m | Starring Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Cloris Leachman

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, a respected medical lecturer, inherits his notorious grandfather’s estate in Transylvania. Upon discovering a book of his grandfather’s wild experiments, he decides to recreate them, bringing to life a monster who just wants to be loved. Starring a wild-eyed Gene Wilder at his very best, Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny horror spoof returns to cinemas for the 50th anniversary of its release.

Reviews

‘What it demonstrates is that for spoof to work, the spoofers must have deep affection for the material out of which they are wringing the wee.’
