In the harsh winter of 1964 Massachusetts, young secretary Eileen becomes enchanted by Rebecca, the glamorous new counsellor at the prison where she works. However, their budding friendship takes a dark and unexpected turn when Rebecca unveils a sinister secret. Adapted from Ottessa Moshfegh’s award-winning novel, William Oldroyd’s highly anticipated follow-up to Lady Macbeth constructs an atmospheric and intricately twisted tale of ominous obsessions.

‘The dark sense of humour from the novel is wonderfully translated. An impressively crafted noir that skilfully captures isolation, dread and yearning.’
