Airplane!12A

Directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker & Jerry Zucker | USA | 1980 | 1h 28m | Starring Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Lloyd Bridges

A former pilot who has developed a fear of flying finds himself burdened with the responsibility of landing a passenger plane safely when its crew fall sick due to food poisoning. Crammed with slapstick routines, puns, one-liners, and surrealist humour, this side-splitting spoof of 1970s disaster movies has become a much-loved comedy classic.

Our screening on Friday 8 July will be introduced by comedian Celya AB, part of the Oxford Comedy Festival.

Reviews

‘There’s hardly a second that passes without an assault by a wickedly accurate spoof, cringe-inducing pun or inspired sight gag, and the years have not diminished the film’s dumb appeal.’
