On Saturday 31st August 2024, The Ultimate Picture Palace is celebrating National Cinema Day by offering audiences £4 tickets to all screenings that day. We have scheduled four screenings for Saturday, including: animated adventure Kensuke’s Kingdom; Chinese crime-drama Only The River Flows; heartwarming American comedy Thelma; and John Sayles’ classic Western from 1996, Lone Star. Kensuke’s Kingdom – 2pm
Stranded on a remote island after a shipwreck, a young boy fights for survival and soon discovers he is not alone. A captivating animated film based on the beloved children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo. Click here to book tickets.
Only The River Flows

Now in its third year, National Cinema Day is set to be bigger and better than ever, with over 630 venues across the UK taking part. Organised by the cross-industry body Cinema First, and supported by the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association, this event is a celebration of the magic of the big screen. Since its inception in 2022, National Cinema Day has seen tremendous success, drawing 1.46 million moviegoers in its first year and 1.56 million in 2023. With more cinemas participating this year, 2024 is poised to be even bigger and better.
