Celebrate National Cinema Day with £3 tickets (Sat 3rd Sept)

Aug 31, 2022 | News

On Saturday 3rd September, we are thrilled to participate in this year’s National Cinema Day. Launched by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA), National Cinema Day unites cinemas across the country, from multiplexes to independent venues, to offer audiences discounted tickets. This Saturday, you will be able to purchase tickets for all of our screenings that day for the specially reduced cost of £3.

Screenings on the day include: fascinating UK documentary Eric Ravilious: Drawn to War which looks at the life of one Britain’s most underrated landscape artists; a special screening of new release Queen of Glory introduced by independent community-cinema programmer Tatenda Jamera (MAONA Art) and followed by a Q&A with the film’s producer Kelley Robins Hicks; and David Cronenberg’s controversial 1996 classic Crash (part of the UPP’s Long Live the New Flesh: David Cronenberg Classics season).

‘National Cinema Day is very much intended to be a celebration of every aspect of the big screen experience, and to recognise the vital role that local cinemas play in communities across the UK. It’s so great to see much-loved local venues such as the Ultimate Picture Palace coming together with so many other cinemas large and small, offering everyone the chance to enjoy one of the nation’s favourite out-of-home activities at such a low cost.’ Phil Clapp, Chief Executive, UK Cinema Association

‘I was so pleased to see that National Cinema Day is back this year as it is such a fun way of people showing their love of the cinema! I love the idea our audiences joining film lovers up and down the country in making a special trip to the cinema on Saturday and maybe taking a chance on a film that they wouldn’t have otherwise seen, a much loved-classic, or even doing a double or triple bill!’ Micaela Tuckwell, Executive Director, The Ultimate Picture Palace

Our beautiful art deco inspired auditorium can be found just off East Oxford's Cowley Road. We are open 7 days a week. We open the cinema and box office 30 minutes before the scheduled start time of each film, and the Box Office then closes 10 minutes after the film starts. We don’t show adverts, just a couple of trailers, so don't be late as the film itself starts very close to the advertised time!
