Carrie18

Directed by Brian De Palma | USA | 1976 | 1h 38m | Starring Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving

An introverted and sensitive teenager faces regular taunting from her classmates at school and ridicule from her fanatically pious mother at home. After a series of strange occurrences, she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers – just in time for the high school prom! Based on Stephen King’s first published novel, Carrie is a masterfully terrifying look at teenage cruelty and the horrors of adolescence.

Reviews

‘The reason Carrie is still held in such high regard as a horror classic is very simple: it’s all in the sheer directorial bravado. De Palma at the top of his game.’
★★★★★
Andrew Collins, Empire Magazine

‘Carrie’s climactic empowerment is all at once the tragedy and triumph of a young woman trapped between Biblical regression and a secular coming-out.’
Anton Bitel, Little White Lies
