UK Green Film Festival 2025: Once Upon a Time in a ForestCert-TBC

Directed by Virpi Suutari | Finland | 2024 | 1h 33m | Finnish w/ English subtitles

In the heart of the Finnish countryside, young people grow up closely connected to nature, swimming in clear lakes and finding peace among ancient trees. But this balance is under threat as the forests face destruction from human activity. At just 22, Ida takes a stand, leading the Forest Movement to protect the woods she loves. As she challenges powerful industries and deep-rooted traditions, her story unfolds like a modern fairy tale. Set against the magical backdrop of the forest, this award-winning documentary is a hopeful tribute to nature and the young activists fighting to save it.
