Just Eat It - A Food Waste Story

Dir. Grant Baldwin. USA 2014. 1h 15m. Starring Grant Baldwin, Jenny Rustemeyer

The first of our UK Green Film Festival screenings is about something we all love: food. As a society, we devour countless cooking shows, culinary magazines and foodie blogs. So how could we possibly be throwing nearly 50% of it in the trash?

Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge, pledging to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away.

The film will be followed by a Q&A about food wastage hosted by Peter Lefort of The Eden Project's Big Lunch programme. The panel will consist of Cathy Howard, Manager of the Oxford Food Bank and Dr Bex White, Innovative Food Systems Education Co-ordinator at Oxford University's Environmental Change Institute

‘Filmmakers Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer turn themselves into test subjects in this hugely entertaining study of America's culture of excess.’ Maggie Lee, Variety
