Dark Days Rated 15

Dark Days

Dir. Marc Singer. USA, 2000. 1h 22m.

A fascinating documentary about a group of homeless New Yorkers living in an abandoned section of the underground railway system.

This film screening is part of the Homeless Film Festival 2017 and is a fundraiser for local charity Homeless Oxfordshire. The screening will be followed by a discussion with some of the charity’s staff and clients. All ticket money goes to the charity.

‘A portrait of the homeless community of "mole people" who lived in sections of disused underground tunnels in New York, this is a singularly powerful account of the lives of the dispossessed and desperate.’ ★★★★★ Wendy Ide, The Times

'It's distinguished by remarkable intimacy, with none of the arty distance or aesthetic pretension a veteran filmmaker might have imposed.’ ★★★★★ Tim Robey, The Telegraph
