Blade Runner: Double Feature15

Replicants. Sci-fi neo-noir. Harrison Ford! Join us for a Blade Runner double feature screening as we show both Ridley Scott’s 1982 original – Blade Runner: The Final Cut – back-to-back with Denis Villeneuve’s epic sequel, Blade Runner 2049. Please note, there will be a 30min interval between the two screenings.

BLADE RUNNER (THE FINAL CUT)
Dir. Ridley Scott. USA, 1982. 1h 58m. Starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, M. Emmet Walsh, Daryl Hannah.

Set in a dystopian future Los Angeles, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is pulled back into his old job of hunting down and “retiring” highly advanced humanoid robots called replicants. As Deckard delves deeper into his assignment, he becomes entangled in a web of moral ambiguity, questioning the nature of humanity and his own identity. With its groundbreaking visual effects, atmospheric world-building, and its exploration of complex themes around artificial intelligence, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner had a profound influence on the sci-fi genre and remains a timeless masterpiece.

BLADE RUNNER 2049
Dir. Denis Villeneuve. USA, 2017. 2h 43m. Starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Jared Leto.

Set thirty years later after the original, a new blade runner, Officer K (Ryan Gosling) uncovers a long-buried secret that could plunge society into chaos. With Denis Villeneuve’s meticulous craftsmanship and Roger Deakins’ breathtaking cinematography, this stunning sequel continued exploring the original films themes of humanity and identity with exceptionally emotional results.
